一、“全收全批”存在的缺陷
1. 教师为了应付上级教育主管部门的日常教学检查，花费在英语作业批改上的时间过多
通常情况下，教师需要批改的首先是学生回家作业：抄写英语单词、重要词组和句子的练习本和有习题的英语回家作业本;其次是课堂上的英语听写本。再加上要找学生到办公室谈话，平时英语单元测验、当堂作业，班主任工作、备课等等--简直忙得英语教师团团转。由于花在“全收全批”上时间过多，所以教师用来摸索英语教改的时间就难以保证了。
2. 学生为了应付英语教师的作业检查，完全处于教学的被动地位
初中英语新课标所倡导的素质教育，突出的特点是要开发初中生的智力和非智力因素，培养初中生的英语学习能力，让学生真正做学习的主人。可是英语作业的"全收全批"使他们忙于按时“完成”作业，顾不上对与错，从而极大地抑制了学生主动思考，自我检查的积极性。
3. 师生双方反馈的信息缺乏真实性
平时，教师会发现有些学生的英语回家作业会做，但一到考试就不会做题了，究其原因是学生在课堂上没有听懂教师所教的内容，但为了应付教师的批改，只好忙于做好表面的工作，抄袭回家作业，教师一方面大呼不值得批，但由于时间紧，另一方面也为了对付日常教学常规检查，教师们也只好默认学生的这种欺骗行为。
原本，通过批改回家作业这种“无声的教学对话”，教师可以从中得到教与学的信息反馈，了解学生对所学内容掌握的程度，同时也有利于调整教学内容的进度，学生也可以从作业检测中了解自己的水平，从而确定相应的学习目标，改进不恰当的学习方法。然而，从以上上所述不难看出：作业的“全收全批”使英语教师和学生都很疲劳、很盲目、收获很少。
